MyFlight Breaks Ground on First-of-Its-Kind Aviation Headquarters in Detroit

DETROIT, MI — April 9, 2025 — MyFlight Tours, Michigan’s premier helicopter tour company, celebrated a major milestone today with a groundbreaking ceremony for its new 12,000-square-foot headquarters at Coleman A. Young International Airport. This marks the first new commercial development at the airport in over 60 years—and signals a bold new chapter for both MyFlight and Detroit’s East Side.

The event drew city officials, community leaders, and aviation supporters to commemorate the moment. Speakers included Mayor Mike Duggan, Councilwoman Latisha Johnson, and Jason Watt, Director of Coleman A. Young International Airport—each underscoring the project’s significance to the city’s growth and transformation.

“What Sergio and Cassandra have built together here at Coleman Young Airport has become a major part of the airport’s ongoing revitalization because they saw the potential here before most people,” said Mayor Duggan. “We are so glad to have MyFlight here, offering tours to show off the beauty and progress taking place in Detroit.”

Founded in 2019 by Sergio and Cassandra Troiani, MyFlight has grown from a single helicopter to a multi-state operation that has flown tens of thousands of passengers. After years of operating from the historic City Airport, this headquarters marks its first permanent, purpose-built facility—a transformational investment in the future of Detroit aviation and tourism.

“We’re not just building a facility—we’re building an experience,” said Sergio Troiani, Owner and Founder of MyFlight. “One that redefines how people in Detroit, and beyond, connect with aviation, celebrate life’s milestones, and see our city from an entirely new perspective.”

The space will offer more than just helicopter tours. Guests will soon be able to enjoy a bar, small plates, and an outdoor patio, plus host unforgettable events—from proposals to holiday parties—in a one-of-a-kind aviation setting. By merging aviation, entertainment, and community under one roof, MyFlight is introducing a first-of-its-kind experience to Detroit’s social and tourism scene.

“This project goes far beyond helicopters,” said Cassandra Troiani, Owner of MyFlight. “We’re building a new way for our city to explore the skies—and come together on the ground.”

In addition to creating a dynamic public destination, the project also contributes to the revitalization of Coleman A. Young International Airport. MyFlight’s investment has brought fresh attention and energy to a historic site ready for renewal.

“MyFlight has been a catalyst in the redevelopment of the airport, demonstrating a clear commitment to the City of Detroit and the long-term growth of this facility,” said Jason Watt. “We’re excited to continue building a strong partnership that helps shape the future of aviation in Detroit.”

With construction officially underway, the new headquarters is slated to open in late 2025. MyFlight will continue operating 7 days a week from its current terminal at Coleman A. Young International Airport throughout the construction process, with no disruption to flights or customer experience. The ceremony reflected not only how far the company has come—but also served as a heartfelt thank-you to everyone who helped make it possible.

“We wouldn’t be here without the people who believed in us, flew with us, and cheered us on from day one,” said Sergio Troiani. “This next chapter is for them—and because of them.”
